What is the schedule at the event?

March 23 – Check-In/Inspection for Qualifier
March 24 – Qualifier Day, Check-In/Inspection for Main Event
March 25 – Main Event Day 1
March 26 – Main Event Finals/After Party
March 27 – Weather Day

What is the age limit?
  • Athletes must be 16 years old by the day of the competition, March 23, 2016.
When does pre-qualified registration open?
  • Registration for pre-qualified athletes opens today, Friday, January 15 at 3:00 p.m. MST. Pre-qualified athletes have until nextThursday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m. to register. An application process to compete in the Main Event will begin on Friday, January 22.
When does open registration open?
  • Registration for open registration athletes opens Monday, January 18 at 10:00 a.m. MST. All athletes who register in this division will compete in the qualifiers on March 24 before moving on to the Main Event on March 25. Approximately 25% of qualifying athletes will move on to the Main Event.
How much does registration cost?
  • Open Qualifier registration costs $100. Main Event registration costs $150 (pre-qualified athletes). Whoever qualifies for the Main Event from Open Registration will have to pay the additional $50 to compete in finals.
Is there a refund policy if I can’t go to an event I already registered for?
  • Yes. Athlete registration is non-transferable. Athletes that need to cancel an event must login into their registration account and make the necessary changes at least 14 days prior to the event. The athlete will be charged a $50 non-refundable fee. Athletes that cancel within 14 days of the event will not receive any refund.
Do I need to register with any other credential/license in order to compete?
  • No, this year we want to simplify the process and registration for all athletes. No other credential or license is required to compete.
Is the Sickbird buckle award up for grabs?
  • Yes. Get ready to throw down.
What other prizes can I win?
  • The North Face Young Gun Award – awarded to the top performing athlete under 18.

What is the judging criteria?
  • The judging criteria for 2016 is currently being refined in order to maintain progression in the competitive arena of big mountain skiing and snowboarding.
Do athletes receive discount lift tickets?
  • Yes. Big Sky athlete tickets will sell for $51. Tickets for coaches and family will sell for $63.
