Yates, Jillson, Orr, Fitch, Lundin, Hébert and Bembenek vie to be crowned 2016 champs
Do you have what it takes to compete with the best of the best? The Freeskiing World Tour 2016 Big Sky athlete list is growing by the minute with big name veterans and heavy hitters—all signed up to compete in the 19th season of the FWT and 9th year of the Masters of Snowboarding. The competition is scheduled March 23-27, 2016 at Big Sky Resort, MT.
Headline names include Shannan Yates, Forrest Jillson, Kaki Orr, Mark Mikos, Robert Hurley, Hadley Hammer, Harrison Fitch and Mali Noyes. Not to mention, 2015 FWT champions Connery Lundin and Ashley Bembenek along with 2015 Masters champion Audrey Hébert will be vying for 2016 podiums as well.
“The venue at Big Sky is steep and long, one of the most intimidating venues I’ve competed on,” says Bembenek, 2015 champ. “I’m excited to compete alongside all the strong skiers and watch as our sport continues to progress.”
The competition will be neck-and-neck as athletes will need to throw down their best tricks and top moves to impress the judges and stand out from the stacked crowd.
“Every year we see the level and creativity on this venue go up and expect nothing less with the stacked roster,” says competition director, Bryan Barlow.
Not only are athletes stoked to compete at one of the best resorts in the country, but they’re excited to compete with each other. Quite a few of these athletes have been competing across the world, and the FWT Big Sky stop will bring them all together again.
“I’m psyched to get back together and have a reunion with all the ripping, hungry athletes and once again put our heads together in the constructive atmosphere that MSI provides to have fun and push each other to become better skiers and riders,” says Forrest Jillson, who finished 6th overall last season.
So, whether you’re a competitor or a rowdy fan, head out to Big Sky, MT, to cheer on some of the world’s best athletes as they battle for the 2016 championship. Limited space is available, so make sure to register NOW.
